ERIKSON VOICE STUDIO
Lessons with Katie
My teaching philosophy is simple. I individually tailor each voice lesson to fit the unique abilities and goals of every student. As a teacher, it is my duty not only to showcase each student's existing strengths and talents, but to challenge them to discover new potential for learning and growth.
Whether you have been singing your whole life or are just getting started, I can help you to start realizing your goals.
Years of Experience and Proven Results
I have studied voice for the past 15 years and have maintained my own private voice studio since 2007. I have experience working with children and adults of all ages across all levels of experience and in a diverse number of musical styles.
I hold a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Temple University’s Esther Boyer School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. In addition to performing and teaching, I am the Executive Coordinator of The Voice Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission focuses on advancing understanding of the voice through interdisciplinary research & education.

The rest of the lesson time is used learning and perfecting songs and other repertoire.
I also offer drop-in lessons that focus on audition prep. Are you or your child getting ready for an upcoming audition? Whether it's for the school choir or your local community theater, we will focus on strategies that will help you ace your audition!

"Katie is my daughter's favorite teacher. I've never seen my child come back unhappy from one of her lessons. She is always encouraging, has the most positive teaching philosophy, and is always encouraging my daughter to take risks and perform. With Katie's support and guidance, my daughter has participated in several vocal competitions, and is blossoming into a beautiful singer. With love, Katie was able to open up my child's desire to learn and take the extra step to excel."
"Katie is a talented, creative, and dedicated teacher. She has helped me establish my voice and develop musicality and technique. I look forward to lessons each week and have referred friends and colleagues to Katie's studio. I would recommend Ms. Erikson for any level of singer or musician interested in finding their voice.”
"I have had many voice teachers over the years and Katie is the best! I'm far from a professional, but always felt other teachers would talk down to me and I'd be assigned the same music from teacher to teacher (Sorry, "Caro Mio Ben"). Not Katie. She worked with me to find things that were interesting to me and fit my ability. I now look forward to my lessons every week. PS: Katie is also great on the piano, something that makes lessons that much better!”
